May 18, 2016

How long have you been a member of NASGW?

We have been a member of NASGW since 1975

In what ways does your NASGW membership help your wholesale business?

Our membership with NASGW helps our business in a few different ways. The NASGW Expo is the has the biggest impact for us. Being able to see and converse with vendors is crucial. Also being able to talk to other wholesalers in a relaxed atmosphere about business issues that face us, is helpful. It is beneficial that we have an organization that unites wholesalers to help us share share our story and benefits across the industry. NASGW is very good at keeping us informed about political issues that impact the shooting sports industry.

What do you see as the biggest issue in 2016 for the shooting sports industry?

The biggest issue that is on the horizon for the shooting sports industry is the upcoming election.

What advice would you give to a new manufacturer member of NASGW?

I would stress to new manufacturers to utilize the distribution in a proper manner. To do this the manufacturer needs to understand distribution and what wholesalers can do for them.

Why do you think wholesale distribution is the best method of product delivery for the shooting sports industry?

If distribution is used properly, the list of benefits is very long! Here are a few:

  • Less customers
  • Less credit worries
  • Less employees to cover sales
  • Utilization of the distribution workforce
  • More efficient control of products
  • Better profit margins on products
  • How products are marketed
  • Less impact from sales/returns/defectives

Anything new on the horizon for your business in 2016?

There is always something in this industry. Seems like things are moving very rapidly. If one ever gets caught up in this business, it might be time to retire.
